IPORT has identified an incident where iPads running iPad OS 16 may encounter a situation where the iPads may become unresponsive at the home screen, requiring the user to activate the lock button to reset the iPads. This scenario can happen whether or not the iPad is installed into an IPORT CONNECT or IPORT CONNECT PRO Case. This affects all iPad generations; however, we have seen most generations being iPad mini 6th gen exhibiting the issue.
After in-depth testing, it was identified that the cause of the freezing was directly related to an iPad OS software anomaly. Apple has addressed this issue along with other bug fixes and important Security Updates. iOS 16.6 was released July 24th.
If you have experienced similar issues with your iPad becoming unresponsive running an iPadOS earlier than 16.6 and before July 24th, perform a software update to the latest iOS and observe the behaviors of the iPads.
If the issue persists, contact Apple Support for further assistance.
